SIGNS BY JOE
Born and raised in Putney – southwest London. I have always had a passion for street art. I studied my foundation in art and design at Kensington and Chelsea College which led me on to studying BA Illustration at Southampton Solent University, here I learned about the traditional art of Signwriting – after graduating I developed a strong client base of local pubs doing chalkboards, practicing my hand-styles and developing my traditional Signwriting skills until the world went into lockdown. Once all of the pubs had shut I was out of a job, so I took it upon myself to try and develop my large scale mural portfolio, which has now led me to where I am now.

NO.15 - ‘Just Amy’ by signs by Joe. Taking on a portrait of someone so iconic to camden is a big move. We’ve had a few Amy submissions but Joe’s piece was simple elegant and let the artwork do the talking. Someone so loved in the community, getting this piece right was essential. The tasteful colours selected by joe really highlight the small details that are so defining.
