SHUTTERS

London’s Graffiti Legacy is Heading to Bonhams.

"Shutters," a tribute to London's vibrant graffiti culture, is presented by COAG and the Camdemonium Collective. This show, inspired by the city's shopfront shutters, captures the essence of street art.

Debuting in 2021, shutters traced the evolution of graffiti from 1980s icons like Fuel and Doze to modern stars like 10 foot and new artists like Jet 97 from WRH.

Graffiti, formerly considered mere vandalism, is now at the heart of global street art. It serves as an urban diary, documenting city stories, accomplishments, and challenges. Through their illicit tagging, these artists, who are often unidentified, offer our cities a voice. Graffiti is a beacon of authenticity in today's commercial art world.

"Shutters" celebrates graffiti's legacy as a basis for budding talent and its significance in the global art community. A selection of works from Ollie (Saker) Sylvester, Nathan Bowen & Abotz will be going under the hammer on the 18th of October.
